The opening rounds of the Mini 7 Racing Club's 2019 championship at Croft saw new lap records for all four classes, albeit the first outing at the circuit for the Mini Libre cars.
There were rumours aplenty before race weekend about the newly-resurfaced circuit. Some suspected it would be a slippery weekend if rain came into play; others guessed it would result in quicker times. The end result was a crisp but dry weekend on grippy new tarmac.
Colder temperatures are known to marginally improve engine power and save the tyres from 'going off' too early. It's likely car performance has also stepped up since the last visit in 2014.
Here's the new class lap records:
Miglia - J Thompson 1:33.326 – 81.97 mph
Libre - J Evans 1:35.465 – 80.13 mph
Se7en - L Wightman 1:43.056 – 74.23 mph
S-Class - S Kendall 1:44.892 – 72.93 mph
Congratulations to all! See the Lap Record page for more.
